¡Hola, muchachos! This is your Omnis Education Spanish Summer Camp class number 1!
Before you start this activity, make sure you have watched the video below and learned some of the best and coolest expressions about Mexican food.
Now it’s time to work on your progress. So, today, I’m going to ask you some questions.
To answer them, you also need to listen to the real conversation between a waiter and a customer. Have fun!
Waiter: Buenas tardes, señor. May I take your order?
Customer: Good afternoon. Yes, what do you suggest? This is my first time in a real Mexican restaurant. And I would love to try something new, something exotic.
Waiter: ¡Órale! Pues, I would recommend some tacos de ojo.
Customer: Wait, what? Eye tacos?
Waiter: Sí, señor. Tacos de ojo. They take the eyes from the cows, of course once they are in cow heaven. If you know what I mean. Rest in peace, beautiful cows…
Customer: Oh. I didn’t know that… Yes, I want to try those right now.
Waiter: Ok, señor. But no son enchiladas, you would have to wait for, say, 20 minutes.
Customer: Oh, no worries. Maybe I can take some of those pastries over there while I wait.
Waiter: ¡Claro! Las penas con pan son buenas, would you like some orejas?
Customer: Orejas? Ears! Ha ha ha. Yes, those look delicious.
Waiter: Yes, señor. You seem to be a happy guy, just wait to taste those tacos de ojos you’ll be even happier after, like we say in Mexico, barriga llena, corazón contento. I’ll be back soon with your food.
Customer: OK. Thank you.
