Space: The Moon
This learning block represents one week’s work. Aim to watch at least one video and choose at least one activity or project to complete.
There are two videos to choose from about the moon. The first one is better for younger kids, the second one will appeal to older kids. Feel free to watch one, or both!
Now choose an Activity
Moon Phases with cookies
Watch the above video about the moon phases to start. Then, have some fun illustrating the moon phases with Oreo cookies.
Here’s a link to instructions on how to do that… it’s simple and tasty! Be sure to take a picture to record the learning!
Puffy Paint Moon Craft
The puffy paint is made of two parts shaving cream and one part glue with a few drops of black or blue food colouring added. The “moon” is a paper plate. Make the craters with marbles or small balls, or even your thumb! Here’s a tutorial with instructions.
Younger kids might enjoy reading the book If You Decide to Go to the Moon, linked above. Next, create your puffy paint moon!
Moon flipbook Project
Watch this video about the moon. Then, create this phases of the moon flip book that shows the difference between the southern and northern hemispheres.
